JFK Moment

I remember years ago people discussing JFK's assasination and how everybody can remember exactly what was happening at the time they heard the news about what happened.

Obviously I'm relating this to September 11th. It's hard to avoid. I'm sure I'm not the first person to say that I think 9/11 will be our JFK moment. I can remember exactly what happened that day and what I caught on television. I'm sure you guys remember too.

One thing I envy about the JFKers is that their event wasn't nearly politicized as much. JFK's assasination wasn't because of a blunder in national security or foreign affairs. People didn't bring it up 5 years later and say "We arn't any safer from rogue assasins than we were when it happened" etc. He was just considered a sort of hero and people were respectful weather or not he was the guy you voted for (That's my impression, I wasn't around. I can only imagine that if society had been as polarized and politicized as it is now, we would have blown ourselves up by now).

Learn to Dance: +4 to Charisma, Go to Anime Convention: -7 to all attributes.

This past weekend I decided to go off on an adventure by my lonesome. I went to an Anime convention (as you probably guessed from the title) in Atlanta. This con is considered the biggest in the South East.

What did I do there? Why did I go? WTF is up with the rest of the title? I think this all takes some explaining.

The the following embolden titles are explanations for why I went. Click ahead if you just want to see the pictures.

Friends
Making new friends after school is challenging. In school you're set with a group of peers. You're placed in situations where you interact with people your age and of the same situation (i.e. not married, don't have kids, is a student.) and have lots of opportunity to interact. In the real world, you're not always so lucky. I have made friends in Augusta, although not through work (that's a story I still need to tell). Attending the Anime convention, I hoped I would meet people with similar interests in my peer group. w00t

Girls
Same as above but there are added dimensions. I've long suspected that my desire for female companionship takes too much processor power, but I've never had a very good outlet or device for at all attempting to obtain said companionship. Or at the least the successes have been rare and separated with years in between. Interestingly enough I've had more more success than most of my friends. Old news old news. The new dimension is that I've been taking some Latin dancing lessons (something completely out of character my family and most friends would attest). This anime convention actually had a formal ball. Usually formal balls have favorable ratios and if a guy knows how to dance somewhat competently he can dance/meet many girls. Hand in glove. O.J. in Bronco.

Anime
I like anime. I hoped to find some new shows and maybe attend a seminar or two giving some historical information or something to help me appreciate it more.
